History of HAL's Logo Design (from Lou Mamakos)

As I recall, HAL had a contest to design the logo.  I think there were a bunch of designs proposed, but I believe that the winning design was
from Dick Wilkinson. It appears that Dick did the logo design on an old Mac, based on some email exchanges I had with him in April, 2002.
The problem was that the original Mac 800K floppy disks at the time couldn't be read on 'normal' 3.5"floppies, and I was trying to find some
computer that could read the files.  Eventually, Dick got me an actual printed version of the logo that I scanned in and then cleaned-up.  I'm
not sure what software Dick used to create the original logo; there's no mention of it in my old email messages and I never actually was able
to read the disk.

Eventually, on April 28th, 2002 I competed this work and sent an email to the HAL officers at the time announcing the availability of the logo
for use.  I believe that at the time, we were waiting on the logo to be produced to be used to get some tee shirts or other merchandise created.
