March 8th: First 2008 Star Party - a Frigid Affair

Well we tried last night, but alas the wind proved to be too much.  About five of us were there, which surprised me.  Everyone seemed to like huddling behind my truck for some reason.  There even was a couple from LA to Baltimore who showed up (didn't have heart to tell them it was members only).  In between clouds we managed to see Saturn, Orion and a 30 hour old crescent moon, all naked eye because no one was crazy enough to
try and set up a scope.  I managed a pix of the moon and that was a feat with no tripod, dim light and 30-40mph wind gusts.  Lets hope for better weather on our next SP.
