Miller Library Event 9-17-07

Let me be the first to congratulate Chris Todd on for organizing an off-the-charts
successful library astronomy night. The Miller branch did an amazing job with the
promotional efforts and HAL was mobbed. We had about 6 scopes and the HAL
video system, and there were long lines at every scope all the way until the end.
They were even descending on us while we were trying to set-up. We ran out of
those HAL 1 page flyers we hand out. It was wall to wall people, you couldn't move.
It was chaos, madness, out of control, frightening, beautiful.

Congratulations.

Marc Feuerberg

Marc,

You're right, tonight's HAL Library event at Miller Library was a huge
success. The weather was gorgeous, the temperatures were mild, the skies
clear, and the crowd was large and very appreciative.

A hearty THANK YOU to everyone who brought equipment: Eddie Crawford brought
his ETX, Chas Rimpo steadfastly manned the PlanetCam (hooked up to his 8"
CPC), providing great views of Luna and Jupiter, Joel Goodman and Herman
Heyn brought SCTs and showed the Ring, Dumbbell, Albireo and more, Al
Bromborsky brought his Apogee RA-88 binoculars (on that sweet homemade
mount), and Steve Jaworiwsky brought a refractor (sorry, Steve, I never
really got over to see which scope you brought, as I was swamped by people
wanting to see Luna and Jupiter in my Mak). And our intrepid President Marc
Feuerberg acted as master of ceremonies and stellar ambassador, handing out
flyers and talking up the club. You folks are all great, and we really
appreciate you taking time out of your busy schedules to share the night sky
with the public. They love it, and I know I enjoy it, so I hope you did,
too.

The staff at Miller were thrilled with the turnout, and asked us to come
back again soon. So kudos to everyone involved on another great HAL event!
Keep your eyes out for upcoming announcements about our final library event
of 2007, which will be a Saturday daytime solar event on September 29th at
East Columbia.

Clear skies,
Chris
